Dan started riding dirt bikes in the mid '70s in the fields and woods, sand pits, and beaches of southern Maine. After getting his license in 1978, he made his Penton Six-Day 'mostly legal' and he's been street riding ever since.
After surviving traffic for many years, he discovered Motorcycle Safety Foundation training, becoming an instructor in 1999. Since then he's helped more than a thousand riders join the sport or polish their skills through the MSF training programs.
Dan's first track experience was with Reg Pridmore's CLASS at Bryar Motorsport Park in 1987, followed by his first track day with Freeman Cycles Track Time in 1988. He has attended Keith Code's California Superbike School at Pocono and Laguna Seca, Kevin Schwantz' School at Road Atlanta, and American Supercamp. The schools provide training and a chance to ride different tracks - like the New York Safety Track with TTD this season! Dan raced his MZ Skorpion at NHMS in 2008. On track, Dan rides a 2000 RC51 or a silver/red 2008 CBR1000RR.
Off track, Dan has ridden his '85 BMW K100 on many of the back roads of the northeast and usually rides year-round (winner of the 2009 BoRn Winter Challenge). He has enjoyed renting and riding in California and Europe and looks forward to more extended moto-trips in the near future and getting back into dirt riding this spring.
