Penguin School RegistrationThe Penguin Roadracing School and Tonys Track Days, LLC are pleased to announce they will begin to cross-promote each other's offerings. We've created this page to explain a little of the history of each company and why the two companies have decided to work together. WHAT IS THE PENGUIN ROADRACING SCHOOL? The Penguin Roadracing School, now in it's 39th year is The Oldest Motorcycle Roadracing School in the Country. Penguin is dedicated to helping riders learn the basic skills necessary for a successful racing career, as well as tutoring the experienced racer who needs the competitive edge to get to the front of the pack. Recently, Penguin has also added the "Track Experience" program designed for the street riding enthusiast who would like to improve their everyday riding skills and experience the race track in a non-racing environment. WHAT IS TONYS TRACK DAYS? The primary goal of Tonys Track Days is giving the average street rider the opportunity to enhance their riding skills in an environment free from BRIEF "HISTORY" of TRACK RIDING Before the advent of trackdays, the only real opportunity for a street rider to get lots of tracktime was for them to go racing. They would sign up with a school like Penguin Roadracing School (PRS) and upon completion of the course, they would start to race. Tonys Track Days (TTD) came into existence because street riders would come to watch the races, and they expressed a desire to ride on the racetrack, but not necessarily compete in racing. This was the primary motivation for the advent of the Penguin "Track Experience" as well. Trackdays have now been popular for almost 15 years, and there has been a great deal of "cross over" amongst riders. Virtually all street riders now begin riding on the track at a trackday (as opposed to a racing school). For some trackday riders, as they gain experience and skill, the desire to compete takes over and they move into racing. Conversely, some racers decide each year that they no longer wish to compete - but they still enjoy the track environment. With this "blurring of the lines" between racers and trackdays, the owners of both PRS and TTD decided to try working together. HOW WILL THIS PARTNERSHIP BENEFIT RIDERS? Quite simply, both the Penguin Roadracing School and Tonys Track Days employ quality personnel and use innovative teaching techniques to make better motorcycle riders. The owners of TTD and PRS have always had mutual respect for the quality of the program run by the other, and both feel comfortable that our customers will have a positive experience by sampling the other program. By cross promoting the two companies, the primary benefits to the average rider are:
MORE TRACK RIDING OPPORTUNITIES: The TTD dates are on Monday and Tuesday, usually following the PRS dates, which are mainly Fridays. MORE QUALITY INSTRUCTORS: Receiving instruction from mulitiple qualified sources is often more beneficial than having only one teacher. The staff at the PRS consists of many of the very best racers in New England, with hundreds of regional and national championships among them. The staff at TTD includes multiple racing champions, as well as MSF Rider Coaches, and "Riding in the Zone" author, Ken Condon. If you feel that your learning has "hit a wall", trying out a new program and instructor could be just the ticket to help you break through. I USUALLY RIDE IN THE RED or YELLOW GROUP WITH TTD. For those in the RED or YELLOW Group, you should probaly consider the Penguin Track Experience program. In this limited sized class (25 riders maximum), PRS has taken their basic and advanced classes and blended them into a special curriculum focused on giving the students the tools that they needed to both improve their riding and enjoy the racetrack. Similar to a TTD, there are passing restrictions in critical places on the track, giving riders chance to have a little less to worry about while they are riding. Instruction is led by top national (and LRRS#1) rider Scott Greenwood. Scotty is a multi time #1 plate holder in the LRRS series and he is always excited to bring his experience to the classroom. I AM AN ADVANCED BLUE GROUP RIDER WITH TTD. If you run at the front of the YELLOW group, or in the BLUE / BLACK group with TTD, maybe you would like to try being on the track when there are no passing rules? If so, consider trying the PRS Basic or Advanced Courses. The Basic Course is where you can get certified for a racing license and can test the waters with other riders considering getting into racing. The Advanced Course is all about improving your riding techniques, whether you are a street rider or an aspiring racer.
