I’ve been fascinated by motorcycles ever since I got a ride on my neighbors Honda Trail 70. I couldn’t have been more than six or seven. It was green. She just took me for a quick spin around the neighborhood but that was it, I was hooked. Unfortuantely my folks did not approve of bikes and it wasn’t until I was in college that I got my first motorcycle. It was a 1971 Honda CB 175SS. I wish I still had it. One thing led to another and I started touring on an old BMW airhead, an eighty-something R80RT. Nice long rides throughout the northeast and beyond; the more twisty the road the better. But for some reason it wasn’t until I turned 40 that I thought about going to do a track-day. A couple of my riding buddies started attending Tony’s events and it wasn’t too long before I found myself putting 17” wheels and sticky tires on my dirt-bike and attending a track day myself (did I say I like dirt bikes too?). I was immediately hooked and I was kicking myself for not having tried one sooner. That was 2013. Last year (2015) was my first season as a Control Rider. It’s been quite an honor and opportunity to ride with the Tony’s Track Days crew. I learned so much from everyone and I still have so much more to learn. And I tell you what, there is not much out there that is more satisfying than sharing that knowledge and helping folks becoming better, safer riders on the track and on the street. I’ll see you all out there at Tony’s events and maybe at Loudon, as this will be the year I give club-racing a shot! This sport of motorcycling that we all share, all disciplines….. it’s just plain fun.
Beyond the world of motorcycles, I am a self-employed environmental consultant living on the east-end of Long Island.
My current rides include a 2007 V-Strom DL650, a 2004 SV 650 (trusty track bike) and a street-plated 2007 CRF 450X (way more than a dual-purpose)
